SUZUKI 1400/ 800 INTRUDER TURN SIGNAL RELOCATION INSTALLATION AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Refer to Figure 1. 2. Remove seat. Safety: disconnect battery prior to all wiring modifications LeatherLyke 510 5/1/2009 3. Disconnect wires to turn signals. 4. Remove turn signals and retain hardware for reinstallation. Observe and mark “left” and “right” for reinstallation. Information: Do not remove license plate bracket . 5. Remove license plate. Turn signal bracket must be oriented with flange (side with only 2 holes) on top. 6. Install turn signal bracket behind license plate bracket and license plate using 6 x 35mm pan phil machine screws for the 800 or 6 x 20mm pan phil machine screws for the 1400, 1/4″ flat washers, and 6mm locknuts. Insert black spacer spool between license plate bracket and turn signal bracket. 7. Mount turn signals directly to turn signal bracket using 6 x 10mm hex cap screws and star lock washer. Information: Observe all color-coding of wires and splice one wire at a time. 8. Cut each turn signal wires three inches from end and splice 10 inches of supplied wire. Secure wires to inner fender clips. 9. Follow route of tail light wires and connect wires into harness. 10. Secure wires together behind license plate bracket with tie wrap. 11. Connect battery and test turn signals for function. 12. Install seat. Information: Not all license plate mounts are grounded. In some cases, it may be necessary to run a ground wire to turn signal bracket. WARNING: States may have minimum width requirements on motorcycle turn- signals, so check your local laws. LeatherLyke 510 5/1/2009 SADDLEBAG INSTALLATION 13. Refer to Figure 2. Information: Cover plates are pressed into strut. 14. Remove round cover plate at end of fender mount strut on right side. 15. Remove nut on right rear and replace with 1.2″ hex adapter. If hex adapter is less than flush with the outside of both fender struts, add a 5/16″ flat washer. 16. Assemble 5 x 30mm flathead screw and 5mm mounting spool with chamfer on spool under head of screw. Insert assembly thru 1 1/4″ fender washer for the 1400 or 1″ for the 800. 17. Install spool assembly into previously installed 1.2” hex adapter. Information: Do not remove washer on shock absorber. Hex adapter will protrude 1/4″ beyond fender strut. 18. Remove round cover plate over right rear shock, remove shock absorber nut and install .75″ hex adapter. 19. Assemble 5 x 30mm flathead screw, mounting spool and cup washer with chamfer on spool under head of screw. 20. Install spool assembly into previously installed hex adapter. 21. Insert 5/8” finishing plug into old turn signal hole on right side. 22. Repeat procedures on opposite side

Step 1: Identify the key components that complete our Superbike kit: You should have 2 lines (front kit), 1 double banjo bolt and 2 lower adapters. There are also a total of 7 washers. 5 will be used, and 2 are spares. We strongly suggest having a professional mechanic install these brake lines; all other installations VOID warranty. Inspect your brake system after every race. Step 2: To ensure no paint damage from a brake fluid spill, completely cover the front end of the bike. This process is messy, and brake fluid WILL drip! Step 3: Uninstall stock hoses; be aware of how the stock system was routed in case you need to re-install it. Step 4: Install the Galfer adapters onto the right and left calipers. Thread each adapter into the calipers with one washer, and torque at 12 to 13 ft pounds. (See picture S4) Step 5: Install the right and left lines to the calipers, using the shorter line on the right side. These lines will travel from the master cylinder to the calipers; a double banjo bolt (see picture S5) is included to run two lines down. The positioning sequence on the master cylinder is as follows: Master cylinder, washer, straight banjo (from right line), washer, 12-degree banjo (from left line), washer, and double banjo hex. Double banjo bolt torque level is 12 FT Pounds. ( See picture S6) Make sure that the 90-degree fittings on each caliper are pointing away from the bike just a little bit (see pictures S7 through S9 of calipers) . Thread each banjo end into the adapter, and torque to 6 ½ Ft pounds. Before you proceed to the next step, please check for clearance of the lines. Compress the front end to make sure that the lines are not binding with anything. When the front end is fully extended or fully compressed, double check that the lines are traveling correctly and clear from any obstructions. Once the lines have been checked for clearance, we recommend using a zip-tie to bring the lines together about an inch above the lower triple clamp area. (Picture S10) Step 6: Bleed brake system according to owner’s manual, and build appropriate pressure. Finishing with DOT 4-brake fluid is recommended.

The launch of the sixth generation of Gsxr marked a shift in Suzuki’s emphasis on two fronts. One, the Gsxr 1000 now took the upper hand in the development stakes. Historically, the Gsxr 750 led the march-arriving first, gaining the most recent technology, absorbing the lion’s share of corporate pride-but by 2003 the Gsxr 1000 was in the lead. Two, the Gsxr 1000 represents another, more subtle shift for Suzuki engineering, in which the designers-the lucky guys who get to clothe these amazing machines-have more freedom of expression. With this generation, the designs turned edgier, sharper, more aggressive looking than ever. What’s more, the Gsxr 1000 K3 would be the proving ground for a host of changes brought to the Gsxr 600 and Gsxr 750 for 2004. In fact, nearly every upgrade to the smaller bikes appeared on the Gsxr 1000 a year before. But the real impetus for driving the Gsxr 1000 to the head of development and, indeed, shortening its development cycle was competition both on the track and in the showroom. For the track, it was understood that Superbike racing would revert to allowing 1000 cc four-cylinder bikes in place of the 750s that had been the limit since 1982. In 2002, Yoshimura and Mat Mladin barely lost the AMA Superbike crown to Nicky Hayden aboard the Honda RC5!. But it would be the RC’s swan song of competitiveness with the change to 1000 cc fours. To keep speeds in check, the AMA Superbike rules would require 1000 cc fours to have some additional limitations compared to the twins and triples. For example, “Cylinder heads may be ported and machined, but altering of valve angles will not be permitted; aftermarket valves, springs, retainers, and other valve-train components will be permitted; valves must be stock size and same basic material as original equipment; aftermarket camshafts will be permitted, but earn lift and resulting valve lift must be no greater than stock. “In addition, the “stock crankshaft must be retained, The only allowable modifications are balancing, polishing of bearing surfaces and attachment of accessory drives. Homologated transmission gear sets (one optional set of ratios per approved model) will be permitted. Optional sets will be price-controlled and must be available to any legitimate AMA Superbike competitor. Homologated fuel-injection throttle-body assemblies (one optional type per approved model) and aftermarket airboxes will be permitted. Modifications to throttle bodies will not be permitted. Optional throttle bodies will be price-controlled and must be available to any legitimate AMA Superbike competitor.” The thinking was simple: keep the liter bikes from sucking through massive throttle bodies, and the horsepower might not (and, it was hoped, would not) go through the roof. In preparation for racing, Suzuki moto wanted to make a host of small changes to the Gsxr 1000, but its motivation was also to keep the bike at the forefront of open-class street bikes. Suzuki engineers knew that Honda and Kawasaki were readying all-new models-the CBR 954 RR and the ZX 9 R had long since been vanquished-and rumor had it that Yamaha was ready with yet another push with the R1.It was the right time to make alterations to the Gsxr 1000. Heading the list was, as one might expect, a revised engine.

Therefore, the engine coolant should be used at all times even though the atmospheric temperature in your area does not go down to freezing point. Suzuki recommends the use of SUZUKI COOLANT anti-freeze/engine coolant. If this is not available, use an equivalent which is compatible with an aluminum radiator . Failure to follow these guideline could possibly void applicable warranty coverage. Check with your fuel supplier to make sure that the fuel you intend to use meets the requirements listed above COOLANT Use an anti-freeze/coolant compatible with an aluminum radiator, mixed with distrilled water only. Gasoline/Ethanol Blends Blends of unleaded gasoline and ethanol (grain alcohol), also known as GASOHOL, may be used in your vehicle if the ethanol content is not greater than 10%. Gasoline/Methanol Blends Fuels containing 5% or less methanol (wood alcohol) may be suitable for use in your motorcycle if they contain co-solvents and corrosion inhibitors. DO NOT USE fuels containing more than 5% methanol under any circumstances. Fuel system damage or motorcycle performance problems resulting from the use of such fuels are not the responsibility of Suzuki and may not be covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or the Emission Control System Warranty . Fuel Pump Labeling In some states, pumps that dispense oxygenated fuels are required to be labeled for the type and percentage of oxygenate, and whether important additives are present . Such labels may provide enough information for you to determine if a particular blend of fuel meets the requirements listed above. In other states, pumps may not be clearly labeled as to the content or type of oxygenate and ad- ditives . If you are not sure that the fuel you intend to use meets these requirements, check with the service station operator or the fuel suppliers. d of. ; NOTE: • * To help clean the air, Suzuki recommends that you use the oxygenated fuels . • * Be sure that any oxygenated fuel you use has octane ratings of at least 87 pump octane ((R+M)/2 method) . • * If you are not satisfied with the driveablity or fuel economy of your motorcycle when you are using an oxygenated fuel, you should switch back to regular unleaded gasoline . • * If engine pinging is experienced, substitute another brand as there are differences between brands . suzuki SV650 Cup motorcycles must meet the requirements of Lightweight Sportbike Equipment except as noted: a) The exhaust system may be replaced with commercially available aftermarket exhaust systems meeting mandatory track noise limits. b) The rear shock may be replaced with an after-market shock. c) Front forks must remain stock. Internal springs, valving, and oil may be changed with any aftermarket components. d) All riders must race on the same brand of tires. For 2007 the spec tire will be Pirelli . The Pirelli SuperCorsa Pro 120/70-17 SC1 (Super Soft) front and the Pirelli SuperCorsa Pro 160/60-17 SC2 (Soft) rear for dry weather and the Diablo Rain 120/70-17 SCR1 (Super Soft) front, 160/60-17 SCR1 (Super Soft) rear for wet weather conditions. e) Steel braided brake lines may be used to replace stock lines. Calipers and rotors must remain stock. (After market brake pads are acceptable.) f) Horsepower limit: 75hp measured at the rear wheel (Sanctioning body to enforce if required). g) Suzuki SV Cup Machines must weigh no less than 365 pounds in the same condition in which they finish the race, including all fluids such as oil, water and fuel. Weights will be checked immediately following races, and no fluid may be added prior to the determination of weight or before the post race horsepower check on the dyno.

STEP #1 – Remove the seat & the left side fairings. See the Suzuki service manual. STEP #2 – Drill a 18mm hole into the panel (11/16″ hole saw recommended and is available on our site) where shown [A]. If the hole is too small for the socket open it with emery cloth or a file. Watch the clearance behind the panel; make sure the socket has room. Attach the socket to the panel; use a dab of Silicone on the socket and jam nut. Important: Do NOT use Loctite or over-tighten. STEP #3 – Install the cable starting at the battery through to the front of the bike. Route the cable under the bracket [B]. You’ll find it a bit tight to get through between the frame and motor [C]. Ty-wrap the cable to the frame. Run the cable up to the front fairing. Slip the fuse-holder in the location shown [D]. Disconnect the black and red battery terminals. Connect the ground wire to the bolt [E]. You can cut a notch in the ref boot [F]. Connect the red wire to the battery posts as follows: RED WIRE = BATTERY POSITIVE STEP #4 – Reconnect the positive & negative battery terminals. Install the fuse in the fuse-holder. The center terminal is plus and the outer ring is negative (see dwg below). Apply either dielectric grease or Vaseline to terminals. Connect the red wire to the POSITIVE terminal and the black wire to the NEGATIVE terminal. Use a voltmeter to check if the polarity is correct. STEP #5 – Apply the remaining ty-wrap to the wiring harness where needed. Do NOT allow the harness to directly contact the motor or exhaust.

CLOCK/FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM INDICATOR (D The indicator displays clock under normal condition. The indicator switches from the clock to the fuel injection system indicator if the fuel injection system has any failure. Clock mode The clock indicates 12-hour mode. Follow the procedure below to adjust the clock. 1. Push the button® until the display blinks. 2. Pushing the button will advance one minute at a time. Repeat pushing the button until the display reaches desired time. 3. Keeping the button pushed in will advance ten minutes at a time. Keep the button pushed until the display reaches desired time. Fine- tune the time by pushing the button repeatedly. 4. Wait 5 seconds and push the button to resume to time display. Fuel injection system indicator F I The fuel injection system indicator indicates “Fl” or “CHEC” if the fuel injection system has any trouble. The Fl indicator light (D will also come on if the fuel injection system has failure. No 1 2 3 Fuel injection system indicator Fl Fl/Clock alternately CHEC Fl indicator light Blinks Lights – Engine condition Engine does not start. Engine can start. Engine does not start. 14 If the fuel injection system indicator displays “Fl” and Fl indicator light blinks, the engine will not start due to a serious fuel injection system failure. If the system has serious failure while riding, the engine may stop. When the fuel injection system indicator displays “Fl” and clock alternately and Fl indicator light comes on, the engine can be started and a will keep running with limited engine performance. This shows that the fuel injection system has minor failure. Bring your motorcycle to an anthorized Suzuki dealer or qualified mechanic to inspect the motorcycle. Continuous operation in this condition may seriously damage the motorcycle. 3. When the fuel injection system indicator indicates “CHEC,” the engine will not start. Make sure that the engine stop switch is turned on and the transmission is in neutral position with the side stand fully up. If the indicator still indicates “CHEC,” inspect the ignition fuse next. SPEEDOMETER ® The speedometer indicates the road speed in kilometers per hour and miles per hour. RIGHT TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR LIGHT © When the right turn signals are operated, the indicator light will flash at the same time. NOTE: If the turn signal light is not operating properly due to bulb filament or circuit failure, the indicator light flickers more quickly to notify the rider of the existence of trouble
