Yamaha Road Star Warrior Fuel Injected Models INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove seat and fuel tank. 2. Remove airbox and left airbox cover. We highly recommend you consult the factory service manual for proper removal of airbox. 3. Route wiring harness under frame bracket towards airbox. (Fig 1) 4. Unplug stock black connector for fuel injectors. (Fig 2) 5. Plug Fuelpak 4-pin connectors in-line with the connectors from step 4. 6. Unplug the TPS connector and attach T-tap connector to the center wire (yellow). (Fig 3) 7. Route the Fuelpak violet wire to T-tap. (Fig 4) 8. Reattach the TPS connector. 9. Route black wire to the front of engine and down to the horn. (Fig 5) 10. Disconnect the factory black/white wire from horn. Plug Fuelpak into horn and plug Fuelpak black/white wire to Fuelpak connector. 11. Route black and green wires to battery negative. 12. Attach Fuelpak to Fuelpak harness and mount under seat as shown. (Fig 6) 13. Before reassembling the bike, make sure handlebar switch is in the engine-not-running position and turn the key on. Fuelpak should light up. Sound the horn. If Fuelpak turns off when the horn is sounded, recheck the black wire connection on the horn and that it is connected to the correct wire from the factory harness. 14. Follow the service manual to reinstall the airbox and gas tank. PLEASE NOTE: FUELPAK USE REQUIRES A HIGH PERFORMANCE AIR FILTER. HOW IT WORKS ENTERING VALUES 1. Remove Fuelpak clear case cover by removing all four screws, save hardware . 2. Turn on main power with key, but do not start engine. Fuelpak display should light up, if not, turn power off and verify the connectors are fully seated. 3. Refer to Fuelpak Setting Reference to locate the Setting Values specific to your bike and exhaust system. If you do not find your setting, visit fuelpakfi.com or call tech support at (562) 921-0071. 4. Starting with mode 1 selected, press the value (+) or the value (-) buttons to input the correct value as indicated in your Setting Value. After entering your first value, press the mode select button to move to mode 2 and enter the value. Continue until you have entered the value for each of the first 18 mode positions. Each time the value (+) is pressed, the value increases by one number. Each time the value (-) is pressed, the value decreases by one number. (Please refer to the “How It Works” section directly above if you have questions about this step. 5. As the next procedure, after you have entered in your values for the first 18 modes, press the mode select button to move to mode 19. Fully twist open the throttle and return to idle position to calibrate the Fuelpak to your bike. 6. By pressing the mode select button twice, move to mode 21 and verify that it reads “0″ with the throttle closed, “50″ at approximately half-throttle and “99″ when fully opened; if not, repeat step 5. Do not proceed to step 7 until mode 21 is verified. 7. Enter any other mode values as required for your application. 8. Turn off power. 9. Reinstall clear cover, tuck Fuelpak under seat area and reinstall seat. 10. You are now ready to ride.

1. Be sure the main switch is in the off position during the installation process. Failure to do this will cause the “check engine” light to be set. 2. Remove seat exposing the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and battery. 3. Remove the right side coil cover by removing two allen screws and gently pulling. 4. Disconnect the 6 pin factory connector behind the ignition coils. (Fig 1) 5. Connect Fuelpak 6 pin connectors in-line with factory connectors. 6. Disconnect 3 pin factory connectors behind the ignition coils and connect Fuelpak 3 pin connectors in-line with factory connectors. 7. Route Fuelpak harness up to battery area and reinstall coil side cover. 8. Connect Fuelpak black wire to negative ground wire. (Fig 2) 9. Locate factory 2 pin connector with brown and black wires. Disconnect empty connector and attach Fuelpak red wire connector. 10. Connect Fuelpak 10 pin connector to Fuelpak harness. 11. You are now ready to set-up your Fuelpak. Remove seat exposing the tool tray and battery. 3. Remove the (2) 12mm Hex head bolts securing rear of tank. Prop up the rear of the tank. 4. Locate and unplug the white 4-pin connector under left side of tank as shown in figure 1. 5. Route Fuelpak as shown in figure 2. Plug Fuelpak white connectors to the factory connectors unplugged in step 4. 6. Connect brown and green wires to the negative side of the battery. 7. Route Fuelpak long black wire under right side of tank and down to the horn as shown in figure 3. Disconnect the factory black / white wire from horn. Plug in Fuelpak long black wire to horn and then connect factory black / white wire to terminal on Fuelpak black wire. 8. Locate the throttle position sensor on the throttle body located on right side of the tank. As shown in figure 4, attach T-tap to yellow / black wire on throttle position sensor. Connect Fuelpak violet wire to T-tap. 9. Using supplied Velcro, mount Fuelpak next to tool tray as shown in figure 5. 10. Reinstall tank with (2) 12mm Hex head bolts removed in step 3. 11. You are now ready to set-up your Fuelpak 1. Remove Fuelpak clear case cover by removing all four screws, save hardware . 2. Turn on main power with key, but do not start engine. Fuelpak display should light up, if not, turn power off and verify the connectors are fully seated. 3. Chassis number The chassis number is stamped on the right side of the steering head tube. Enter this number in the field on page no 1. Engine number, engine type The engine number and the engine type are stamped into the left side of the engine below the engine sprocket. Enter this number on page 1. Clutch lever The clutch lever [1] is located on the left side of the handlebars. The adjusting screw [A] is used to change the original position of the clutch lever (see maintenance work on chassis and engine). The clutch is hydraulically actuated and adjusts itself automatically. Hand brake lever The hand brake lever [2] is mounted on the handlebars on the right and actuates the front wheel brake. The adjusting screw [B] can be used to change the basic position of the hand brake lever (see maintenance work on chassis and engine). OPERATION INSTRUMENTS » 1 2 A B
ENGLISH 6 OPERATION INSTRUMENTS » TEST All of the display segments briefly light up for the display function test. WS (wheel size) The display changes and the circumference of the front wheel is briefly displayed in millimeters (2205 mm corresponds to a front wheel circumference of 21″ with production tires). Afterwards the display will return to the previous display mode. Electronic speedometer The display in the electronic speedometer is activated as soon as you press a button on the speedometer or an impulse is received from the wheel sensor. The display lights up when the engine is running. The display is cleared if no button is pressed for 1 minute or no impulse is received from the wheel sensor. The button is used to change between display modes. The + and – buttons are used to control various functions. SPEED display mode / H (service hours) Only the SPEED / H and SPEED / ODO display modes are activated in the condition at delivery. SPEED/H is displayed whenever the display is activated and the front wheel is not turning. It automatically changes to the SPEED/ODO display mode as soon as the front wheel starts turning. SPEED displays the speed. H displays the engine’s service hours. The service hour counter starts to count as soon as you start the engine. The displayed figure cannot be changed. Service intervals are indicated in service hours for some KTM offroad motorcycles, making the service hour counter a very practical function. SPEED / ODO display mode (odometer) The SPEED/ODO mode displays the speed and the total distance traveled. The display automatically changes to the SPEED/H display mode when the front wheel stops turning. + button no function – button no function briefly press buttonchanges to the next display mode hold button 3 secs. changes to the next display mode The electronic speedometer has a number of display modes (functions) that you can also activate (reveal) (see: Activating and deactivating display modes).
ENGLISH 7 OPERATION INSTRUMENTS » SPEED / LAP (lap time) display mode You can use the manual stop watch to stop and store up to 10 lap times, which you can view in the LAP/LAP display mode (see below). LAP displays the lap times in hours, minutes and seconds. + button Starts and stops the stop watch, lap time is not reset to 0 – button Stops the stop watch, stores the lap time and restarts the stop watch again. The time is reset to 0. A total of 10 lap times can be stored. If the lap time continues to run after you press the – button, all 10 memory locations are occupied.To clear all of the stored lap times, hold the button for 3 seconds in the SPEED/LAP mode.Up to 10 lap times can be stored in this way. briefly press buttonChanges to the next display mode.If no lap time is stored or the motorcycle is driving, the LAP/LAP mode will be skipped. hold button 3 secs. Basic Tuning Adjustments 1. The following instructions are for basic fuel tuning. Modes 1,2, & 3 are allowing adjustments to increase and decrease the amount of fuel the engine needs. Modes 4 & 5 are for advanced tuning only. DO NOT change modes 4 & 5 when doing basic tuning! 2. To help understand how these modes work, you can think of them as if you were working with a carburetor. 3. Remember each time you push the MODE button you will be advancing to the next mode. Push the MODE button once and you are now in mode 1, push the MODE button again and you are now in mode 2 and so on. You only need to be concerned with modes 1, 2 & 3 for basic tuning. Modes 4 & 5 are for advanced tuning ONLY. 4. If you need to go back to the settings that were pre programmed when you purchased the controller, just look at the picture in each mode, the colored square represents where the settings were when you purchased the controller. 5. Looking at the controller you will see eight lights with numbers under them, this is what you need to look at when changing settings. The #1 light on the controller represents the leanest setting. Advance tuning has two modes in which to adjust. They are called mode 4 and mode 5. In basic tuning, you are changing the amount of fuel that the engine receives, but with advance tuning, you will be changing when the fuel will be available. In each mode you can adjust how soon the fuel delivery occurs. 2. Mode 4 yellow light and blue light represent when the fuel delivery is available during partial throttle acceleration. To adjust this setting, push the MODE button four times and then push the plus or minus buttons to adjust fuel as needed. Only the yellow light will be changing.

1. Remove seat, exposing factory computer (ECU). disconnect factory wiring by pressing lock and pushing lever back. 2. Remove ECU by pushing tab and sliding the ECU to the right as you lift. 3. Gently align the pins of the Fuelpak connector with the ECU and press the connector on the ECU. Be sure the single large pin is aligned with the single large socket before pressing Fuelpak connector into the ECU. Make sure all four tabs fully latch. (Fuelpak connector Patent Pending# 29 295831) 4. Connect factory wiring to Fuelpak connector and pull lever to locked location. Be sure that lock snaps into position. 5. Reinstall ECU. 6. Remove left side cover. 7. Slide Fuelpak down through opening leading to the area under the left side cover. 8. Attach Fuelpak to the fuse cover using supplied velcro.

Remove seat and fuel tank. Consult service manual for proper removal of tank. 2. Remove left side cover and loosen the four bolts inside. Route the two 6-pin connectors between the side cover and frame as shown by the dotted line. Tighten the four bolts. (Fig 1) 3. Route 6-pin connectors under frame and up left side of engine. (Fig 2) 4. Locate the 6-pin connector next to the ignition coil. Disconnect and connect the Fuelpak 6-pin connectors in-line on the stock connector. (Fig 3) 5. Route single black wire to the front of engine and down to the horn. (Fig 4) 6. Disconnect the factory black/white wire from horn. Plug Fuelpak into horn and plug Fuelpak black/white wire to Fuelpak connector. Be sure Fuelpak connector cannot short to frame or radiator. 7. Route black and green wires to battery negative. 8. Attach Fuelpak to Fuelpak harness and mount in left side cover. (Fig 5a 49 State) (Fig 5b Caliornia Models) 9. Before reassembling the bike, make sure handlebar switch is in the engine off position and turn the key on. Fuelpak should light up. Sound the horn. If Fuelpak turns off when the horn is sounded, recheck the black wire connection on the horn and that it is connected to the correct wire from the factory harness. 10. Use supplied zip ties to hold Fuelpak wire harness away from engine. 11. Follow the service manual to reinstall the gas tank

Remove the main seat and passenger seat. 2. Use a prop to hold the tank up in the trunk area. 3. Disconnect the main wiring harness from each of the lower injectors. (Fig 1) 4. Lay the Fuelpak unit in the tail section and route the wire harness down the left side of the motorcycle toward the throttle bodies. 5. Plug the Fuelpak wiring harness in line of the stock wiring harness and injectors. (Fig 2) 6. Locate the throttle position sensor connector on the right hand side of the throttle body. 7. Install the Fuelpak wiring harness TPS connectors in line of the stock wiring harness. (Fig 3) 8. Attach ground wire to the negative side of the battery. 9. Install Fuelpak in the tail section using the supplied velcro. (Fig 4) 10. Bolt the fuel tank back into place. 1. Remove seat, right and left side covers, and fuel tank. 2. Remove airbox. We highly recommend you consult the factory service manual for proper removal of airbox. 3. Route wiring harness as shown in the picture. (Fig 1) 4. Unplug stock wiring harness from injectors and plug in the connectors from Fuelpak as shown. (Fig 2) 5. Unplug the TPS connector (grey) and attach T-tap connectors to the two outside wires. (Fig 3) 6. Route Fuelpak green wire to T-tap on the factory black wire with brown stripe. Routh the Fuelpak violet wire to T-tap on the factory pink wire with black stripe as shown (Fig 3) 7. Reattach the TPS connector. 8. Route red wire to the front of engine and down to the horn. (Fig 4) 9. Disconnect the two position connector from horn and snip connector in half so you have two one-wire connections. 10. Reattach factory grey wire to horn. Attach Fuelpak red wire to the other horn connection. Plug the factory horn orange wire to the male connection on the Fuelpak red wire. 11. Route black wire to battery negative connection as shown. (Fig 5) 12. Attach Fuelpak to Fuelpak harness and mount to bracket under the left side cover as shown. (Fig 6) 13. Before reassembling the bike, make sure handlebar switch is in the engine-not-running position and turn the key on. Fuelpak should light up. Sound the horn. If Fuelpak turns off when the horn is sounded, recheck the red wire connection on the horn and that it is connected to the orange wire from the factory harness. 14. Follow the service manual to reinstall the airbox and gas tank.

Setup operations include 12/24hour clock, bar tachometer scale, shift warning RPM, numbers of engine rotation per signal, wheel circumference, units, odometer adjustment, units of temperature, temperature warning and fuel meter input resistance selection. These must be set up step by step. The computer will automatic reversion to main screen if no button operation for 75 seconds at any setting screen. 2. Press both MODE & RESET buttons to go into setting screen. In setting screens, press RESET button to add the flashing digit by 1 or convert units, press MODE button to confirm the digit setting and jump to next digit or next setting screen to be set. Press MODE button for 2 seconds at any setting screen to finish the setting and go to main screen. 3. It displays “12 or 24H and XX:XX-XX” symbols and AM/PM in case you select 12H. Operates buttons as descriptions of item 2 to finish clock and jump to 8,000/16,000rpm scale setting. 4. It displays 8,000rpm scale, presess RESET button to convert 8,000 or 16,000rpm. Press MODE button to confirm the setting and jump to shift RPM warning setting. 5. It displays ” RPM rXXX00 “. Follow the item 2 of button operation to finish the shift RPM warning setting and jump to engine specification setting. 6. It displays “SPC-X.X RPM”, the default value is 1.0; there are 4 options: 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 0.5. It means the numbers of engine rotation per signal. For example the value 2.0 means the engine rotate 2 turns to output a signal. 7. Press RESET button to move in loop sequence from one to another value of the 4 values. Press MODE button to confirm the setting and go to wheel circumference setting screen. 8. In “cXXXX” display, “c” means “Circumference”, following 4 default digits; flashing digit is digit to be set. Follow the item 2 of button operation to finish the wheel circumference setting and jump to unit setting. 9. It displays KM/h or MPH, each press of RESET button converts unit; press MODE button to confirm unit setting and jump to odometer setting. 10. It displays “ODO & 00000Xkm”, the “X” is tested odometer in factory, follow item 2 to setting a desired odometer and jump to thermometer unit setting. The setting screen will disappear when the odometer is over 30km or your setting is over 30km and returned to main screen. 11. It displaysm ” , or oFF”, each press of RESET button converts , or oFF; press MODE button to confirm temperature setting and jump to temperature warning setting. 12. It displays ” XXX” and the selected unit. Follow the item 2 of button operation to finish the temperature warning setting and go to fuel sensor input resistance setting. 13. It displays “100r and fuel tank symbol”, follow the item 2 to select 100, 250, 510 Ohm or oFF and return to the main screen. The fuel meter bar will disappear if you select oFF mode.
