Hard-Krome Exhaust System Installation NOTE: Take care when fitting this Hard-Krome aftermarket exhaust system on your motorcycle. It has been designed to replace a STOCK exhaust system on a motorcycle with its engine, frame and other components in their STOCK design, configuration and location. WARNING : Re-check and re-tighten ALL fasteners and supports after 50 miles, then re-check and tighten as necessary on a periodic basis to ensure proper operation and performance. NOTE: All fasteners should be loose during initial installation to ensure proper fit and location of the new exhaust system. 1. Install new exhaust gaskets. 2. Install mounting bracket using Bolts with flat & lock washers. 3. Install Front exhaust header pipe, taking care to not scratch chrome surfaces on pipe, engine or motorcycle — use masking tape as needed. 4. Install the two nuts to secure the flange that holds the exhaust header pipe to the front cylinder head — DO NOT TIGHTEN NUTS! 5. Install Nut strip into each slotted bracket of front pipe and start the 3/8-16×3/4″ Bolt with flat & lock washer through backside of mounting bracket. — DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS! 6. Carefully install rear pipe. 7. Install the two nuts to secure the flange that holds the exhaust header pipe to the front cylinder head — DO NOT TIGHTEN NUTS! 8. Our sporty and lightweight SLIP-ON systems offer a great balance between price and performance and represent the first step in the exhaust system tuning process. The change will be also visual as our HEXAGONAL mufflers perfectly fit the exterior line of the sporty Dorsoduro and add a clean racing image. The muffler outer sleeve is made of titanium, which gives a special hi-tech touch to our SLIP-ON system. We offer street legal version with removable muffler in- serts. PERFORMANCE Measurements of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system on the APRILIA DORSODURO 750 (without muffler insert): Power & Torque: the exhaust system modification results in a major boost in performance, delivering a solid 84.8 HP at 9540 rpm on back wheel. But the increased power isn’t available just at the top of the range; the system shows its quality already from 3500 rpm up through entire rpm range. Max. increased power between the Akrapovic and the stock system is 1.8 HP at 9300 rpm. Besides this, the torque is substantially higher in a lower rpm area from 2500 rpm to 6500, and also in middle and high rpm area. Measurements of the Akrapovic EVOLUTION street legal system on the APRILIA RSV MILLE (with muffler insert): Power & Torque: the Akrapovic exhaust system increase the responsiveness of the Aprilia and fill out the power and torque curves. The increase in power and torque starts already at around 3000 rpm and leads all the way to the top of the rpm range. At 10300 rpm we measured a massive 129.1 HP on rear wheel and max. increase of power 9.4 HP at 10550 rpm. CONFIGURATION The Racing and Evolution systems differ only in the selection of tubing materials. The Racing is made of stainless steel, and the Evolution is made of titanium. Both systems have conical tubes, collectors, and a link pipe. All of the system components are attached with sleeve joints secured with silicon-shielded springs. The header tubes come with interference crossover tubes, and the systems also include a fitting for attaching a lambda sensor. The HEXAGONAL muffler is definitely the most eye- catching element of the system. It is made of a titanium inlet cap and perforated inner sleeve, while the outlet cap is made of carbon fiber. The outer sleeve is available in titanium or carbon fiber. The muffler is attached to the frame using an Akrapovic carbon fiber clamp.
