1. Remove the seat, side panels, and fuel tank. Kill switch connector Photo 1 2. Unplug and remove the stock headlight. 3. Unplug and remove the stock kill button. See Photo 1. 4. Unplug and remove the stock taillight. Using a utility knife, trim the taillight mounting tabs flush with the underside of the fender. 5. Taillight Installation: Attach the provided LED taillight to the under side of the rear fender using the provided countersunk mounting hardware as shown in Photo 2. Route the taillight wires forward to the area on top of the airbox along the right side of the fender. Secure the taillight wires to the taillight plastic with zip-ties so the tire cannot make contact. Photo 2 6. Rear Turn Signal Installation: Attach the rear turn signals to the flat portions on the sides of the LED taillight. Position them so they are out of the path of the exhaust. Route the wires forward securing with zip-ties. Route the right turn signal wires and the taillight wires around the front of the muffler mount and between the fender and the black plastic splashguard as shown in Photo 3. Route Right Turn Signal & Taillight wires here Photo 3 Page 3 of 10
7. Brake Light Switch Installation: This step requires bleeding the rear brake. If you do not feel comfortable performing this step please refer it to a qualified mechanic. Installation: Remove the guard that protects the rear master cylinder and reservoir. Temporarily remove the bolt that secures the brake reservoir to the frame. Remove the bolt that holds the banjo fitting to the top of the rear master cylinder. Replace this bolt with the provided hydraulic switch retaining the upper and lower crush washers as shown in Photo 4. Bleeding the Brakes: Do not begin this process without a fresh bottle of brake fluid. Remove the lid from the brake fluid reservoir. Put the box end of 8mm wrench over the brake bleed nipple and install the bleed hose (supplied) tightly over the nipple. Position the loop on the hose above the nipple as shown in Photo 5 with the other end of the hose in a container to catch the fluid. Crack the bleed nipple open about 1/8 to a quarter turn keeping the loop in the hose vertical. Slowly depress the brake pedal to fill the hose with fluid. Pump slowly until you have brake fluid extending up into the loop, then you can pump the pedal fairly aggressively to drive air out of the system – The fluid above the bleed nipple will prevent air from re-entering the system. DO NOT LET THE RESERVOIR GO DRY – ADD FLUID AS NEEDED. Pump the pedal until there are no more bubbles, and then close the nipple with the wrench. Double check that the pedal is firm and the brake works properly.

Determinea location for the TFI unit. Suggested locations areas follows: Under the seat, behinda side cover or tail section. 3. The TFIcomeswitha harness with injector connectors that match the factory injector connectors. 4. Locate the factory fuel injectors (see owners manual if you are not sure).** **: Some models are equipped with two sets of injectors (primary and secondary); the unit is designed to interface with the primary injectors. If the TFI harness does not match your injectors do not proceed and call tech support at 877-764-3337. 5. Disconnect the factory injector connectors from the fuel injectors and replace with the TFI injector connectors from the TFI unit, basically unhook the factory injector connector and plug the matching TFI connector (female) to the injector and then connect the factory injector connector to the TFI connector that simulates the injector (male). There is no order to hookup the TFI harness to the factory harness just make sure the original factory connector goes toits’original cylinder. It isa good idea to make sure there is a little slack in the harness to prevent engine vibration from damaging/breakingawireon the connectors. 6. Be sure to check the wires are not indirect contact with any sharp edges, exhaust and/or other objects, which could result in long term wear and/or damage. 7. Connect the TFI ground lead to the negative terminal of the battery along with the factory ground lead. 8. With the rubber plug removed from the TFI, turn the motorcycle key switch to the “ON”position. As the bikes electrical system goes through initial startup mode you may see LED’sflashingonthe TFI.

Muffler or mufflers 2.) Left side and lower body panels 3.) Voltage regulator (08 model only) 4.) Front sprocket cover 5.) Front sprocket 6.) Chain 7.) Rear Axel, wheel and brake assembly 8.) Pivot tube and swingarm
2.) New Swingarm Installation A. Most of the pieces needed are installed on the swing-arm. You’ll need to install the shock mount block with the 4 supplied flat head 5/16″bolts, use red loctite and torque to 25 ft lbs. B. Insert the 2 supplied pivot bushings in the pivot tube. Move your new swingarm into position. Once you have the swingarm in position reinsert the pivot tube to hold it in place. C. On some bikes (07′ and earlier Busa’s) it is necessary to grind approximately 1/8″ off the frame for chain clearance. Not all bikes will require this, but it is best to mock up and test fit before final assembly.

Start by loosening the rear cylinder down tube bolt located on the top of the old mufflers center collector in front of the rear tire. 2. Remove both of the front cylinder exhaust pipe head nuts and set them to the side for reuse with the MAC exhaust system. 3. Remove the right side passenger’s foot peg. Set the foot peg aside as you will need to reinstall it. 4. Remove the left side passenger’s foot peg. Set this foot peg aside as it will also need to be reinstalled. Note: When you remove this bolt the entire exhaust system will be loose and may fall. You will need to support the old exhaust at this point to keep from injuring yourself. Gently move the old exhaust system side to side to remove it from the rear cylinder down tube. Once the exhaust system is loose from the down tube remove the system from under the Virago. 5. Remove the bolt holding the rear brake pedal in place and remove the brake pedal from the motorcycle. Note: Set both the bolt and the pedal aside for reinstallation. 6. Next loosen the nut on the drivers right foot peg, 1 full turn to start with. Then remove the rear nut on the same foot peg. (Note: The bolt that this nut is on goes completely through the motorcycle. This is the center stand mounting bolt.) Now remove the front nut and set both aside for reuse with the MAC system. 7. Install the center stand stop bracket under the left passenger foot peg. Install this bracket with the 90° bend facing down and towards the rear tire. (Note: Center stand sop bracket in provided in the hardware kit and is approx. 5″ long with a 90° bend in it.) Adjust the bracket by one of the large bolts through the foot peg then through the bracket and then install it into the stock location. Put on one of the washers and a nut and snug up the nut. Lower the center stand until the center stand come in to contact with the bottom of the bracket. Tighten the nut until it will hold the bracket securely. 8. Install the rear down tube clamp onto the rear muffler and install the medium sized nut/bolt/washer onto the clamp just finger tight. 9. Install the (2) small bolts into the channel bracket on the rear muffler. Install the rear mounting bracket onto the two bolts and then install the washers and nuts onto each. Tighten the (2) nuts only slight amount so that you can slide the bracket front to rear to insure that when you install the bracket you position it properly. 10. Slide the rear pipe onto the rear down tube about ¼”to ¾” past the pre-cut slots on the rear muffler pipe. Slightly snug the clamp making sure that the position of the bolt and nut will not interfere with any moving parts. The final position of this bolt can hit the tire if it is not positioned properly. 11. Install the other large bolt into the right passenger and then through the top hole in the rear muffler mounting bracket. Insert the bolt into the stock location and install the washer and the nut. 12. Align the rear muffler and you can then tighten the nuts on the rear muffler mounting bracket, the cylinder down tube and the right side passenger foot peg.
13. Install the front muffler on the rear most mounting bolt of the drivers foot peg and put the stock nut back onto the bolt. Hand tighten the bolt only at this time. Note: Install the nut at this time is only to support the muffler and to insure that the pipe does not fall on the ground while you complete the next step. 14. Lift the front head pipe into position and start the stock nuts onto the studs. It is strongly recommended that you install new exhaust gasket at this time. Note: The new exhaust gaskets are not included in the kit but are available at your local Yamaha Dealer. After gaskets are installed hand tighten the front head pipe. 15. Remove the nut from the drivers foot peg bolt and reinstall the drivers foot peg. Note: Hand tighten only at this time. 16. Finish tightening the nuts on the front head pipes. (Install these nuts according to Yamaha’s Factory specifications.) Once the nuts are tightened on the head pipe you can then tighten the drivers foot peg nuts. 17. Reinstall the rear brake pedal and tighten the bolt that holds it on to factory specifications. 18. Check all of the bolts that you have installed of removed to insure that they are tight. 19. Start the motorcycle and check for any leaks. 20. You are finished with your new MAC Exhaust System.
